When a 21 year old Daytona Beach student, Alexis, recently got the shocking news that her mom had developed brain cancer, her friends, co-workers and family stepped up to the plate to show their support. They did so by putting together a motorcycle and poker run designed to raise money and hope for her mother's safe and manageable recovery.
Sponsored by Rue & Ziffra, P.A., the run took motorcyclists and other vehicles to different places around town, including the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse, Our Deck Down Under and ending with a party at First Turn, where Alexis works as a bartender.
According to Thunder Roads magazine, over $4,300.00 was raised for Alexis and her family. We all know how detrimental medical costs can be, so every little bit was appreciated.
Also participating in the run was attorney David Sweat from our firm. While just showing up would have been appreciated, Mr. Sweat went a step further and saddled up his motorcycle with everyone else to ride the run! He claims that he, as well as the firm, tries to live up to their tag line of "in your community, on your side" and show support for the people of the community, through both the good times and bad.
