In the fall of 2010, Mike and Angie Skinner lost a dear friend by the name of Jim Hunter. Jim was a fellow resident of the Daytona Beach area and a loved icon in the sport of NASCAR, and had dedicated his love to the sport and those in the NASCAR garage. He was a dear friend to many including the Skinner Family, so it was more than appropriate to celebrate the 5th annual event in his name.
The event kicked off on March 16th with a Hoe Down Bash held in the infield of the Daytona Beach International Speedway Race Track. The infield Fanzone was filled with Daytona’s finest restaurants providing delicious food and a LIVE concert headlined by Nashville’s recording artist, Stacy Mitchart, where attendees danced the night away. Silent auctions also took place throughout the night in the Daytona 500 Club featuring NASCAR and celebrity memorabilia.
Mike Skinner himself took complimentary pictures and autographed them for all ticket holders which made the night complete. Since the Mike Skinner Round Up started 5 years ago, over $500,000 has been raised to help benefit Daytona Beach area charities, including: Council on Aging, Concerned Citizens for Animal Welfare, Second Harvest Food Bank, Halifax Health, Greyhound Pets of America D.B.
The second day of the event took place at the Spruce Creek Country Club with a shot gun start at 8:45 a.m. where the Skinner Round Up Golf Tournament took place followed by the Grand Skinner Poker Tournament at 2:00 p.m.
